The downside to getting the Apple Watch 2 is that you probably won't want to wear any conventional watch anymore. I have plenty of very expensive watches but since I got the Apple Watch 2, I don't wear too many others.
Mine is the black stainless steel model with the space black stainless steel link bracelet band. I think this is the best one. Only other one I would consider is the ceramic model, with the shiny stainless steel link bracelet band.
This watch keeps track of aerobic based workouts (not weight lifting - when I am lifting I set the watch to track an "indoor walk"), including swimming (it is waterproof), and has built in GPS. It handles messaging from most Apps including of course regular SMS and MMS text from your phone, also can handle stock quotes, weather, heartbeat monitor, stopwatch (chronograph) functions - really quite a versatile watch.
The Apple Watch is for Apple people - it does not work with Android. Needs an iPhone, running OSX 10 or higher, to take full advantage of its features.
I keep some cheaper bands for it, such as the Nike sport one, to wear at the gym to avoid scratching, and cover it up with a Defense aluminum plastic coated cover when at the gym too. I also placed an invisible shield type cover over the watch. All of these keep it as new, no scratches, both to keep it looking perfect but also to maintain it for the day that I sell it to buy the next generation Apple watch!
