  • Apple iMac 27" late 2015 model, 4 Ghz quad core Intel i7, 3Tb fusion drive, 32 Gb RAM, retina 5K display

Time was you had to buy something like a Mac Pro to get the best Mac, but for some time now, the iMac is all you need, and a relative bargain too.

Mine is the top of the line fully loaded late 2015 version, with the AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 Mb Graphics card.

This is a custom build iMac. It includes the retina 5K display (5120 x 2880). I use it connected to a second display via Thunderbolt cable, an Apple Thunderbolt 27" display (2560 x 1440)

However, any iMac is good - and I consider these to be the best desktop computers you may get. Mac OSX is user friendly, and hence intuitively powerful. Great for word processing, website creation, photograph and video editing.

Programs I use on my iMac include Adobe Creative Suite CS6, Microsoft Office 2016 for MAC, Quicken 2016 for MAC and Quickbooks 2016 for MAC. I also like a program called GraphicConverter.

I use a MagicMouse 2 with it, and the wireless keyboard.

The fusion drive on it, a 3Tb one, includes 250Gb of SSD where your most used programs are automatically stored, and a regular spinning HD for the balance of the 3Tb.

    In general:
    The iMac "Core i7" 4.0 27-Inch Aluminum (Retina 5K, Late 2015/Skylake) features a 14-nm "Skylake"
    Quad Core
4.0 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (6700K) with
    four
independent processor "cores" on a single chip, an 8 MB shared level 3 cache, 8 GB of 1867 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM (PC3-14900) installed in pairs (two 4 GB modules), a 1 TB, 2 TB or 3Tb "Fusion Drive," and an AMD Radeon R9 M390 or AMD Radeon R9 M395 graphics processor with 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory. It also has a built-in "FaceTime HD" webcam and stereo speakers.

    This model has a 27"
    5120x2880
LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS DCI-P3 "Retina 5K" display. The rear of the case is aluminum and is thicker in the middle and tapers to a razor thin 5 mm at the edges.

Connectivity includes four USB 3.0 ports, dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n compatible), and Bluetooth 4.0.

Texas Hold’em vs. Omaha Poker: Which Should You Play?

Poker has long been one of the most popular card games in the world, and within the poker universe, two of the most widely played variations are Texas Hold’em and Omaha Poker. While both games share a lot of similarities, there are distinct differences that can influence which one you should choose to play. In this article, we will explore these two versions of poker, comparing the rules, strategy, and overall appeal to help you decide which game is right for you. Basic Rules: How They Differ

At the core of both Texas Hold'em and Omaha Poker, the goal is the same: form the best possible five-card hand using a combination of your hole cards (the cards dealt to you) and the community cards (cards dealt face-up in the center of the table). However, the main difference lies in the number of hole cards dealt to each player and how they must be used.

            Texas Hold'em:
            • Each player is dealt two hole cards face down.
            • There are five community cards dealt face-up, which all players can use to form their best five-card hand.
            • The game consists of four betting rounds: pre-flop, post-flop, post-turn, and post-river.

            Omaha Poker:
            • Each player is dealt four hole cards face down.
            • There are still five community cards, but here's the crucial difference: in Omaha, you must use exactly two of your hole cards and three community cards to make your best hand.
            • Like Texas Hold'em, Omaha also has four betting rounds.

The added complexity of four hole cards in Omaha makes it a more complex version of the game, and players must be strategic in how they use those extra hole cards. Strategic Differences: Which One Is Easier?

The strategy in both Texas Hold'em and Omaha differs, especially due to the number of hole cards dealt to each player.

In Texas Hold'em, because there are only two hole cards, the number of potential combinations is smaller. You don’t have to think about too many possibilities, and you can be more confident in what hands your opponents might be holding. The game relies heavily on reading your opponents and managing your chip stack through the various betting rounds.

In Omaha, the complexity increases significantly. With four hole cards, there are far more combinations of hands that you can potentially form, which means players must consider many more possibilities. In this game, it is much easier to hit a strong hand, but it's also easier to get caught up in trying to play multiple combinations and losing focus on what’s really important. Omaha requires careful hand selection and often encourages more aggressive play since strong hands tend to appear more frequently.

For beginners, Texas Hold’em may be easier to learn due to its simpler structure and fewer combinations to worry about. On the other hand, Omaha may be more suited for players who enjoy a deeper level of strategy and the opportunity to take more risks with more starting hands. Winning Potential: Which One Is More Rewarding?

Both Texas Hold’em and Omaha Poker offer great opportunities for big wins, but Omaha tends to be the more volatile option. This is because of the increased number of hole cards, which leads to more strong hands being made. In Texas Hold’em, it’s easier to fold when you're not hitting good hands, and it’s often a more conservative game. In contrast, Omaha rewards players who are willing to play a wider range of hands, but it also has more opportunities for losing big pots when the board doesn’t cooperate with your hand.

The high number of hand combinations in Omaha makes it a more dynamic game, which is exciting for many players who enjoy big pots and dramatic moments. However, this also means players who are not familiar with Omaha’s strategic intricacies could face higher risks and steeper learning curves. Which One Should You Play?

Ultimately, the decision to play Texas Hold'em or Omaha Poker depends on your personal preferences and experience. If you’re new to poker, Texas Hold’em is the more beginner-friendly option due to its simpler rules and strategic depth. It’s the most commonly played poker variant in both land-based and online casinos, making it the best starting point for players who want to get a feel for the game.

If you're looking for a more challenging and dynamic poker experience, Omaha could be the game for you. With its more complex hand combinations and more frequent action, Omaha tends to attract experienced poker players who are seeking a deeper strategy game.

Additionally, for those who are playing online and looking for some diversity, you might find poker variants like Omaha Hi-Lo or Pot-Limit Omaha being played at casinos that offer poker alongside games like link togel. If you're interested in expanding your gambling portfolio, exploring these options might offer fresh excitement. Conclusion

In the end, both Texas Hold'em and Omaha Poker have their unique appeal, and neither is inherently better than the other. It all comes down to what type of player you are and what kind of challenge you're looking for. Texas Hold’em is perfect for newcomers, while Omaha offers seasoned players the chance to enjoy a more intricate and dynamic game. Whichever you choose, poker remains one of the most thrilling and strategic games in the world, with endless opportunities for fun and profit.

Weirdest Superstitions in Gambling from Around the World

Gambling has always been surrounded by a mix of chance, strategy, and, for some, mystical beliefs. Whether it’s playing a slot machine, rolling dice, or drawing a poker hand, many gamblers have peculiar superstitions they believe can influence their luck. Across different cultures and traditions, these superstitions vary widely, but they share one common thread: the belief that something outside of skill or probability can determine the outcome of a game.

Let’s take a dive into some of the weirdest superstitions in gambling from around the world and explore the strange rituals players follow in hopes of winning big. 1. Lucky Charms and Symbols:

In many cultures, players will carry lucky charms or symbols to help them win at casinos. These can range from personal items like a rabbit’s foot, a four-leaf clover, or even a specific piece of jewelry believed to bring good fortune. In Japan, it’s common for players to use an omamori—a small protective charm from a temple—when playing pachinko, a popular Japanese gambling game. These superstitions often come from a blend of belief in luck and respect for tradition, especially when it comes to luck or spiritual forces influencing the outcome. 2. The Curse of the "Gambler’s Fallacy":

One superstition ingrained in many gamblers’ minds is the gambler’s fallacy, the belief that previous outcomes in a game (like a roulette wheel or slot machine) influence future results. For example, a player might believe that if a slot machine hasn't paid out in a while, it's "due" for a win. This false belief about probability is common, despite the fact that each spin of the wheel or pull of the lever is independent of the last. 3. The Number 13 – Bad Luck:

The number 13 has long been considered unlucky in many cultures, especially in the West. In casinos, you might notice that some gambling tables, particularly roulette or craps tables, avoid using the number 13 altogether. It’s often skipped on the layout of the table or wheel. Some players will even go to great lengths to avoid the number, believing that being associated with it will bring misfortune.

Interestingly, in other cultures, like in Italy, the number 13 is considered lucky, while the number 17 is believed to bring bad luck. In these countries, you might find that the unlucky number isn’t 13, but something entirely different. 4. Spinning the Dice for Luck:

In craps, the act of rolling the dice is one of the most crucial moments for a gambler. Many players will engage in superstitions about how the dice should be rolled. Some people believe that rolling the dice gently ensures good luck, while others think that throwing them hard increases their chances of winning. In some places, players will even whisper a secret prayer or chant before tossing the dice, hoping to influence the outcome.

One of the more unique traditions is found in Las Vegas, where a few players believe that tapping the dice on the table before they roll will bring them a streak of luck. 5. Avoiding the "Unlucky Seat":

In poker and other card games, the seat you sit in can make all the difference. Players often consider certain positions at the table to be “unlucky” or “lucky.” For example, the seat at the far left of the dealer is seen as the worst position by some, as it is believed to be cursed with bad luck. On the other hand, the seat directly across from the dealer, often referred to as the "lucky seat," is thought to bring good fortune.

Interestingly, some players avoid taking the same seat that they lost big in previously, believing the "bad luck" is tied to the spot. This superstition is most common in casinos with high-stakes poker games. 6. Blowing on the Dice:

One of the most famous gambling superstitions comes from Las Vegas and other casinos worldwide—blowing on the dice before throwing them. The idea behind this superstition is that blowing on the dice can purify them or “cleanse” them, making them more likely to land in your favor. It’s a ritual often seen in the movie world, but many players still hold onto this superstition when it comes to shooting craps. 7. "Demo Slot Kakek Zeus" and Other Slot Rituals:

When it comes to slot machines, many players develop quirky habits to increase their chances of winning. Some players tap the machine, give it a gentle shake, or even talk to it, as if they could coax it into paying out. In some online gambling circles, players believe that trying a "koitoto" (a popular online slot game) before playing for real money will bring them good luck, even though it’s just a practice mode. The idea is that by familiarizing oneself with the game, players might subconsciously increase their chances of hitting a jackpot when they eventually play with real stakes. 8. Lucky Colors and Clothing:

In some parts of the world, players believe that wearing specific colors will influence the outcome of a game. In Macau and other Asian gambling hubs, the color red is often associated with luck and prosperity. Players will wear red clothing or accessories when they enter a casino, hoping that the color will boost their odds of winning. In contrast, black is often considered unlucky, and some players avoid wearing it altogether while gambling. 9. The "Unlucky" Time to Gamble:

Many gamblers believe that certain times of day or year are luckier than others. In some countries, it’s considered bad luck to gamble on certain dates, like Friday the 13th. In other cultures, it’s thought that you should avoid gambling during the early morning hours, as the luckiest time is considered to be after sunset. This belief is especially strong in places like Las Vegas, where superstitions and rituals are an integral part of the casino atmosphere. 10. Leaving Before You Lose:

Finally, one of the strangest superstitions in gambling is the belief that you should leave a casino or table once you've experienced a winning streak. The idea is that after a big win, the casino’s luck will soon turn against you, and leaving while you’re ahead is the best way to avoid losing it all. Some gamblers go so far as to insist on quitting the game and leaving the casino as soon as they hit a big jackpot, feeling that their luck will run out if they stay longer.

While many of these superstitions might seem odd or illogical, they reflect the deep-rooted beliefs and traditions that have formed around the world of gambling. Whether it’s a belief in lucky numbers, charms, or rituals, the world of casino gambling is as much about psychology and personal beliefs as it is about luck and strategy. Next time you step into a casino, whether in Las Vegas, Macau, or online, remember that these quirky superstitions continue to shape the experience for many players.

Why Some Movies Flopped in Theaters But Became Cult Classics

It’s a phenomenon that’s fascinated movie lovers for decades: films that bombed at the box office but gained a massive following in the years that followed. These “flop-turned-cult-classics” often become beloved by fans for their unique qualities, overlooked brilliance, or sheer oddness. So, what is it that makes these movies rise from failure to fame? Let’s take a closer look at the reasons why some movies flop in theaters but become cult classics.

                  1. Underappreciated Artistry
One of the main reasons a movie may initially flop is because it doesn’t align with the mainstream tastes of the time. While most films that do well in theaters often have broad, accessible appeal, some films push boundaries in terms of style, storytelling, and even genre. These movies often receive critical praise but fail to connect with general audiences looking for more conventional fare. Over time, though, their uniqueness shines through, and they gain a passionate following of fans who appreciate the creativity behind them.

Take Blade Runner (1982), for example. Upon release, the film, directed by Ridley Scott, was a commercial failure despite its stunning visuals and groundbreaking concepts. Audiences didn’t quite know what to make of the film’s slow pace and philosophical themes. However, over the years, it garnered a loyal fan base, eventually being recognized as one of the greatest science fiction films ever made. This kind of artistry appeals to a niche group that thrives in a more evolved, retrospective viewing experience.

                  2. Poor Timing
Sometimes a film simply arrives at the wrong moment. A movie might be ahead of its time, tackling themes or exploring genres that don’t resonate with audiences in the current cultural climate. An example of this is The Big Lebowski (1998), a quirky, offbeat comedy by the Coen Brothers. When it was released, it didn't attract much attention from theatergoers, partly because it didn’t follow the conventions of the traditional Hollywood comedy. Its off-kilter humor and oddball characters weren’t what people expected from a comedy at that time. But as the years passed, The Big Lebowski became a staple of pop culture, sparking annual festivals and fan gatherings. It’s a movie that found its true audience after its theatrical run, when people were more open to its unique blend of comedy and philosophy.

                  3. Overlooked Storytelling Elements
Another reason movies can transition from flops to cult classics is their ability to offer more upon multiple viewings. At first glance, some films may appear superficial or simply not “click” with audiences. However, they may possess intricate details, subplots, or metaphors that aren’t immediately noticeable. These storytelling elements often become clearer and more appreciated as viewers rewatch the film.

Take Donnie Darko (2001) as an example. It was initially a box office disappointment, but its deep exploration of mental health, time travel, and suburban life gave it a richness that viewers began to uncover over time. The more fans watched it, the more they discovered new layers, making it a movie worth revisiting.

                  4. Loyal Fan Communities and Word of Mouth
Word of mouth plays a huge role in transforming a film into a cult classic. Fans who are passionate about a particular film will spread the word to others, and soon enough, the movie develops its own cult following. This often happens when a movie has a unique, memorable experience that resonates with a specific audience.

A perfect example of this is The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). While it was initially a box office failure, it gained a dedicated following as fans began attending midnight screenings, dressing up as the characters, and even interacting with the film during showings. Over time, it became a cultural institution. As the movie gained a passionate community, it’s since been recognized as one of the most famous cult films in history.

                  5. Iconic Performances or Characters
Sometimes a movie may fail at the box office because audiences don't connect with the characters or the performances at the time. However, certain performances or characters may stand the test of time and later be viewed as iconic. Think of Heathers (1988), which was a critical but not financial success. The film’s exploration of teenage angst and dark humor didn’t resonate immediately, but Winona Ryder and Christian Slater’s performances became unforgettable, and the movie eventually gained a loyal following.

Similarly, characters that are quirky, weird, or outlandish often develop a devoted fan base that elevates the movie to cult status. Beetlejuice (1988) may not have been an immediate box office hit, but the eccentric character of Beetlejuice, played by Michael Keaton, became an enduring icon in pop culture.

                  6. The Influence of the Internet and Social Media
In today’s world, the internet plays a significant role in creating cult classics. Websites, fan pages, and online communities like Reddit often allow forgotten or underrated films to be rediscovered by new audiences. Additionally, the ability to easily stream films on platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ has given these "flop" films a second life.

For example, Fight Club (1999), directed by David Fincher, was initially divisive, and while it eventually gained a solid following, its viral status truly began after it became widely available online. Discussions, memes, and quotes from the film exploded across social media, turning it into one of the most talked-about films of the 2000s.

While a movie's initial box office performance may seem like the final word, it doesn’t always predict a film’s long-term cultural impact. Many movies that struggle to find an audience during their theatrical run can go on to become cult classics, often due to their unique storytelling, artistry, and the passionate communities they inspire. Films like The Shawshank Redemption, Clerks, and Napoleon Dynamite prove that a film’s commercial failure doesn’t have to define its legacy. Over time, audiences find value in these movies that they may have missed in their initial theatrical release, and in doing so, these films cement their place in cinematic history.

How Gambling Affects Mental Health: A Closer Look

Gambling is often seen as a form of entertainment, but for some people, it can have a serious impact on their mental health. While it may start as an occasional activity or a way to relax, gambling can quickly turn into a harmful habit. In this article, we will take a closer look at how gambling affects mental health and the risks associated with it.

                    The Emotional Toll of Gambling
For many individuals, gambling begins as a fun activity, whether it’s playing cards with friends, visiting a casino, or betting online. However, as gambling becomes more frequent, it can start to take an emotional toll. The excitement of winning can be addictive, but the losses can lead to feelings of frustration, guilt, and anxiety.

One of the most significant mental health effects of gambling is stress. People who gamble regularly may feel pressure to win, leading to anxiety and worry about their financial situation. The fear of losing more money can cause sleep disturbances, irritability, and an inability to focus on other areas of life, such as work or relationships.

                    Gambling Addiction: A Growing Concern
Gambling addiction, also known as compulsive gambling, is a serious condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It occurs when an individual cannot control the urge to gamble, even when it causes negative consequences in their life. Compulsive gamblers often experience an overwhelming desire to place bets, even when they know they cannot afford it.
The psychological effects of gambling addiction are severe. People struggling with this condition often experience depression, anxiety, and feelings of hopelessness. They may feel isolated from friends and family due to their behavior, which only worsens their mental health. In extreme cases, gambling addiction can lead to suicidal thoughts or attempts.

The Link Between Gambling and Depression
Depression is one of the most common mental health issues linked to gambling. The constant cycle of winning and losing can lead to extreme mood swings, making it difficult for individuals to manage their emotions. Those who gamble excessively may experience feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and worthlessness, especially after a big loss.
The financial strain caused by gambling can also contribute to depression. Many people who struggle with gambling addiction may fall into debt, leading to financial instability. This can cause feelings of shame, guilt, and frustration, further worsening their mental health.

                    How Gambling Affects Relationships
Gambling doesn’t only affect the person who is gambling but also their loved ones. Relationships often suffer when one partner has a gambling problem. Family members may feel betrayed or angry about the financial losses or lies that are associated with gambling. As the addiction deepens, it can lead to breakdowns in communication and trust, which can severely damage relationships.

Gambling-related stress can also lead to conflicts in the workplace, further exacerbating the individual's mental health issues. Anxiety and depression often make it difficult for a person to perform well at work, leading to job loss or even more financial strain.

                    A Tool for Recovery
For those who are struggling with the mental health impacts of gambling, finding help is essential.
